PRP Q & A

What PRP procedures can improve my skin and hair?

At BioAge Health, Dr. Kodama offers the Vampire Facial and Vampire Facelift PRP procedures to improve the appearance of your skin with the all-natural ability of platelet-rich plasma. For hair restoration, PRP is also an option that does not involve chemicals or invasive surgical procedures to regrow hair.

What is the Vampire Facial?

The Vampire Facial is a rejuvenating treatment that improves skin tightness, tone, and texture. Dr. Kodama starts by taking a small blood sample and placing it in a centrifuge machine. The centrifuge is a sterile chamber that whirls the blood at ultrarapid speed to isolate growth factors that are the foundation of the platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

Next, Dr. Kodama uses a microneedling device (a group of tiny needles) to make many little punctures in the skin. The microneedling device stimulates new collagen creation in your dermal skin layers, and Dr. Kodama paints the PRP over the punctures, to deliver the PRP deep below the skin. Then, the PRP activates stem cells in your body, triggering them to make brand-new collagen.

The ultimate result is tighter skin, improved texture, and better skin tone. Your skin looks even better over the upcoming weeks and months, as new collagen fibers form.

What is the Vampire Facelift?

The Vampire Facelift is ideal if you want even more dramatic anti-aging results. Like the Vampire Facial, the Vampire Facelift uses PRP, but the process is completely different.

In step one of the Vampire Facelift, Dr. Kodama sculpts your face in a natural-looking way with hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane® or Juvéderm®. The fillers can sculpt your cheeks, plump your lips, smooth out smile lines, and enhance your overall appearance to make you look younger.

Next, Dr. Kodama takes a small blood sample to create your PRP, just like in the Vampire Facial. But, instead of microneedling, the next step in the Vampire Facelift is injections with an ultrathin needle. The PRP then works together with your dermal fillers, adding firmness and tightness to your skin.

A Vampire Facelift gives you both immediate and lasting results, thanks to the blend of dermal fillers and PRP.

How does PRP hair restoration work?

PRP hair restoration at BioAge Health starts with a blood draw, which Dr. Kodama places in the centrifuge to extract the growth factors. Then, Dr. Kodama uses either an ultrathin needle or a small microneedling device to create tiny punctures in the areas of hair loss.

Dr. Kodama injects the PRP into the punctures, where it goes to work around your inactive hair follicles to stimulate regrowth and prolong the hair growth cycles. With a series of PRP treatments, you can restore your hair to its younger, thicker, and healthier state.

PRP can restore both your skin and your hair, using your very own blood. To learn more about how PRP procedures can help you, call BioAge Health or book a consultation online now.
